Case study overview
The work behind the result.
The Challenge
Sparkle-ist had an established ecommerce business running on Shopify, but the brand was ready to take its subscription offering to the next level.
The challenge wasn't simply to build a better-looking online store.
Sparkle-ist needed a platform that could support a subscription-first business model while continuing to serve customers who wanted to discover and purchase individual bottles.
The new experience needed to support multiple subscription models, premium limited memberships, waitlists, a growing product catalog, advanced product discovery, rich product information, events, editorial content, customer communication, and social proof.
At the same time, the existing Shopify business needed to be migrated without losing the ecommerce foundation that had already been built.
The goal was to create a website that felt as premium as the products themselves — while giving the team a more flexible platform for recurring revenue and long-term growth.
The Solution
Moving From Shopify to Subbly
We migrated Sparkle-ist from Shopify to Subbly, moving the business onto a platform purpose-built around subscription commerce.
The migration gave Sparkle-ist a stronger foundation for recurring revenue while allowing the business to continue operating a full ecommerce store for one-time purchases.
But the project went far beyond a platform migration.
We completely redesigned and upleveled the website, rebuilt the ecommerce experience, introduced two distinct subscription journeys, created advanced product discovery, structured detailed product information, connected content management, and integrated the tools needed for marketing, support, lead capture, and social proof.
The result is a modern digital platform where subscriptions, ecommerce, content, events, and customer communication work together as one connected experience.
A Subscription-First Experience
Built Around Recurring Revenue
Rather than treating subscriptions as an additional feature of an ecommerce store, we made the subscription experience a central part of the new website.
Sparkle-ist now has two distinct subscription models, each designed around a different customer profile and value proposition.
This allows the brand to serve both customers looking for an ongoing discovery experience and premium customers looking for limited-access Champagne.
Sparkle-ist Club
A Flexible Recurring Membership Experience
We created a dedicated subscription experience for the Sparkle-ist Club, built around the discovery of carefully selected Champagne and sparkling wines.
The club provides members with curated bottles and an ongoing opportunity to discover producers, styles, and wines they may not encounter through a traditional shopping experience.
The subscription model supports flexible delivery preferences, including:
Monthly shipments
Every-other-month shipments
Skip options
Pause functionality
Cancellation flexibility
This makes the subscription feel less like a rigid recurring order and more like an ongoing discovery service.
Each shipment becomes another opportunity to introduce customers to something new.

Champenois Club
A Premium Membership With Limited Availability
For Sparkle-ist's highest-value customers, we created a completely separate subscription experience for the Champenois Club.
The Champenois Club is positioned as a premium, limited-access membership for customers looking for rare, highly allocated, and exceptional Champagne selections.
The membership is intentionally limited, which meant the experience needed to account for situations where there are no available places.

Waitlist Experience
Capturing Demand When Membership Is Full
Instead of simply displaying an unavailable subscription when the Champenois Club reaches capacity, we created a dedicated waitlist journey.
Potential members can join the waitlist and provide their details to be notified when a place becomes available.
This turns limited availability into a structured customer journey.
Rather than losing interested customers when the club is full, Sparkle-ist can continue capturing demand and build a pool of potential members ready to join when availability opens.
This was an important part of creating a premium membership experience where scarcity is part of the proposition.
Ecommerce
Bringing the One-Time Catalog Into Subbly
The project also included migrating Sparkle-ist's existing one-time product catalog from Shopify into the new Subbly-powered ecommerce experience.
This allowed us to bring both sides of the business together:
Recurring memberships for customers who want an ongoing Champagne discovery experience.
One-time purchases for customers who want to explore and purchase individual bottles.
The shop now acts as a discovery environment where customers can browse a large selection of Champagne and sparkling wines while remaining within the same digital ecosystem as the subscription experience.

Advanced Product Discovery
Making a Large Catalog Easier to Explore
With a growing catalog of Champagne and sparkling wines, a basic product grid wasn't enough.
We created an advanced product discovery experience that gives customers multiple ways to find the right bottle.
The shop supports:
Country filtering
Style filtering
Search
Price — high to low
Price — low to high
Date sorting
Alphabetical sorting
This allows visitors to approach the catalog based on what matters most to them.
Someone can search for a specific producer, browse Champagne from a particular country, explore by style, or simply sort the catalog by price or name.
The result is a much more flexible shopping experience that makes a large and specialized catalog easier to navigate.
Live Inventory Management
Real-Time Stock Visibility for Every Bottle
Because Sparkle-ist sells individual bottles with limited availability, accurate inventory management is critical.
We configured the built-in Subbly inventory system for the entire one-time product catalog, allowing the team to manage the exact number of bottles available for each Champagne.
Inventory levels are connected directly to the storefront, so the availability shown to customers reflects the actual stock level in real time.
This creates a seamless connection between the team's inventory management and the customer-facing shopping experience.
As bottles are sold, the available quantity is automatically updated, helping prevent overselling while giving customers a clearer understanding of product availability.
For a catalog built around rare, limited, and small-production Champagne, this creates a much more transparent and reliable purchasing experience.
One System. Live Inventory. Accurate Availability.
The team can manage stock from within Subbly while customers see the corresponding availability directly on the website — without requiring manual updates or separate inventory tracking systems.
Product Pages
Turning Every Bottle Into a Rich Product Experience
We redesigned the product page experience to provide much more than basic ecommerce information.
Each product has its own structured information, allowing Sparkle-ist to present the characteristics of individual bottles in a consistent and highly detailed format.
Product-specific data can include:
Producer
Cuvée
Vintage / Non-Vintage
Region
Country
Style
Tags
Grapes
Dosage
This information is managed through structured product data and displayed directly within the product experience.
For example, individual products can communicate detailed information about the producer, region, grape composition, dosage, and Champagne style without relying on a generic product description.
This gives customers more context when making a purchase while creating a consistent structure across the entire catalog.

More to Discover
Turning Product Pages Into Discovery Experiences
We also introduced a richer storytelling layer to the product pages.
Instead of stopping at technical product specifications, each Champagne can have additional editorial information presented through clean accordion sections.
These include:
Notable
Important details, characteristics, or stories that make the particular bottle worth discovering.
Sips & Scents
Tasting notes and sensory information that help customers understand the character of the Champagne.
Perfect Matches
Food pairing and serving suggestions that help customers imagine how and when to enjoy the bottle.
Hands Behind the Bubbles
The story behind the producer and the people responsible for creating the Champagne.
This transforms the product page from a simple ecommerce transaction into a discovery and education experience.
Tastings & Events
Contentful-Powered Event Management
Sparkle-ist is not only an ecommerce and subscription business. The brand also creates Champagne tasting experiences and events.
We connected Contentful to the Tastings section, giving the client a flexible way to manage and publish events.
The client can add new tasting experiences and promotional events without needing to rebuild the page structure each time.
This creates a scalable content system that can grow alongside the event offering.
Editorial Content
A Flexible Blog Experience
We also connected Contentful to the Sparkle-ist blog.
This gives the client direct control over publishing new articles, educational content, Champagne stories, pairing advice, and other editorial material.
The blog adds another entry point into the customer journey.
Visitors can discover Sparkle-ist through educational or editorial content and then naturally move toward exploring products, subscriptions, tastings, or other experiences.
This creates a stronger connection between content, discovery, and commerce.

Email & Customer Communication
Omnisend Integration
We integrated Omnisend to support newsletter signup and ongoing customer communication.
The newsletter experience gives Sparkle-ist a direct channel for communicating with its audience about new releases, product discoveries, pairing tips, events, and other updates.
This creates an additional touchpoint beyond the website itself and allows the brand to continue building relationships with visitors and customers after they leave the site.
Live Customer Support
Tidio Chat
We integrated Tidio to provide live chat functionality across the website.
For a premium and highly specialized product category like Champagne, customers may have questions before purchasing or joining a club.
Tidio creates a direct communication channel where visitors can ask questions and get support while exploring the website.
This adds a human support layer to the digital customer journey and helps reduce friction at key decision points.
Forms & Lead Capture
Web3Forms
We connected Web3Forms to handle website form submissions.
This provides a lightweight and reliable system for managing customer inquiries and other website forms without adding unnecessary complexity to the experience.
Together with Omnisend and Tidio, this creates multiple communication pathways depending on where a customer is within the journey.
Social Proof
Real-Time Google Reviews
To strengthen trust and credibility throughout the website, we integrated Google Reviews using a live review widget.
The widget pulls customer reviews directly from Google and displays them on the website in real time.
This means Sparkle-ist does not need to manually maintain a static testimonial section every time a new review is received.
New customer feedback can automatically become part of the website experience, creating a continuously updated layer of social proof.
For a premium ecommerce and subscription business, this is particularly valuable because customer reviews help reinforce trust at important points in the journey — from discovering the brand to considering a purchase or subscription.

Design & User Experience
Upleveling the Entire Digital Experience
The project wasn't simply a technical migration from one platform to another.
We completely redesigned and upleveled the website to create a more modern, premium, and cohesive experience.
The new design focuses on:
Strong visual hierarchy
Premium editorial layouts
High-quality product presentation
Clear subscription journeys
Rich product storytelling
Advanced product discovery
Consistent responsive design
Clear conversion paths
Integrated social proof
Strong content presentation
The goal was to make the website feel like a natural extension of the Sparkle-ist brand.
Sophisticated enough to represent premium Champagne, but intuitive enough for customers to easily discover products, explore memberships, and make a purchase.
One Website. Multiple Customer Journeys.
One of the most important parts of the project was creating a website that could serve very different types of visitors without making the experience feel fragmented.
A visitor might arrive looking for:
A Subscription
They can discover the Sparkle-ist Club or explore the premium Champenois Club.
A Specific Bottle
They can use search, filters, sorting, and product discovery tools to find exactly what they are looking for.
Product Knowledge
They can explore producer information, grapes, region, dosage, tasting notes, pairings, and stories behind the Champagne.
An Event
They can explore tasting experiences and upcoming events.
Educational Content
They can discover Champagne-related articles and editorial content.
Customer Support
They can connect with the team through Tidio or website forms.
Social Proof
They can see real customer feedback through the integrated Google Reviews experience.
All of these journeys now live within one connected digital experience.
The Technology
Subbly Website platform, subscriptions, memberships, ecommerce, recurring orders and customer journeys.
Contentful Blog, Tastings and event content management.
Omnisend Newsletter and customer communication.
Tidio Live chat and customer support.
Web3Forms Website forms and lead capture.
Google Reviews Real-time customer reviews and social proof.
Structured Product Data / Metafields Detailed product attributes including producer, cuvée, vintage, region, country, style, grapes, dosage and other product-specific information.
The Outcome
The project transformed Sparkle-ist from a traditional Shopify ecommerce store into a modern subscription and ecommerce platform built around the complete customer journey.
The new platform gives the business the ability to:
Run multiple subscription models
Offer monthly and every-other-month shipments
Manage premium limited memberships
Capture demand through waitlists
Sell one-time products
Manage a growing product catalog
Search and filter products
Sort products in multiple ways
Present detailed structured product information
Add rich editorial content to products
Manage tastings and events
Publish blog content
Communicate with customers through Omnisend
Provide live customer support through Tidio
Capture inquiries through Web3Forms
Build trust with continuously updated Google Reviews
Most importantly, Sparkle-ist now has a digital platform that supports both recurring revenue and traditional ecommerce without treating them as separate businesses.
